Can you sponsor us?

Sharon here asking for you to PLEASE help spread the word – Can you sponsor us? or know anyone that could for this years epic Magic Run Weekend.

4 of us are Running 4 Feel the Force Day again this year. In September 2018 we will be off for another trip to the land of mouse for this years Magic Run Weekend .

It is going be even more amazing this year as the theme is villains.

Taken straight from the run disneyparis website

The 2018 Disneyland Paris Magic Run Weekend will honor the Villains. The only way for you to escape their terrible powers will be … running!

Every day, the Villains of the Disney, Star Wars and Marvel Universes will come out on the race courses!

At nightfall on Friday, September 21st, the shadow of Thanos will hover over the Walt Disney Studios Park during the Disneyland Paris 5K which will highlight the Marvel universe.

On Saturday 22nd, the Evil Sidekicks of the biggest villains of the Disney world will invest the Disneyland Paris 10K.

Then, Stitch and his alien friends will come to entertain the little runners during the runDisney Kids Races (distances of 100m, 200m or 1K).

For the last day of the weekend on Sunday 23rd, the greatest villains of the Disney world will accompany the runners of the Disneyland Paris-Val d’Europe Half Marathon.

Are you ready to face the Villains?

Actually I think we are … all of us are a bit partial to a villain or two.

What are we doing this year

There are 4 runners in the team this year: Sharon, Sam, Ben and James with our chEARleader / support crew of Nathan making us a team of 5 heading off on Thursday 20th of September 2018 ready for the first race on Friday night.

This year (foolishly maybe), Sharon and Ben are attempting the 36k challenge, which involves

5k on Friday the 21st of September at 8pm (Corrals at 7pm – 8pm or later start)
10k on Saturday 22nd at 7am (Corrals at 6am – 5am wake up)
Half marathon (21.5k) on Sunday 23rd at 7am (Corrals at 6am – 5am wake up)

3 races over 3 days .. the only one that needs to be done at any set pace is the half marathon but at 16mins a mile that is totally do-able and we recieve a massive haul of 5 medals!!

Sam and James are also tackling the 5k and 10k so between us we will be running 103k 🙂

We have raised over £1,650 over the past 2 years,  which enabled the Si, JJ and the rest of the Feel the Force Day team to put on the biggest events for disabled guests so far.

We are starting out with a blank slate this year – with zero..  and every penny, cent, pound, dollar and euro helps .. and I know that is always said but it really does.

That explains what Feel the Force Day is and why its such a great cause and why we have 4 runners and a chEARleader heading to Disneyland Paris to rause funds for this great cause (at our own expense) .. Every single penny raised goes straight to Feel The Force Day – allowing the FTFD Team to put on fantastic events for lots of.

1 in 4 people feel awkward talking to people with a disability. One of the reasons FEEL THE FORCE DAY exists is to make it possible for guests with disabilities to enjoy a sci-fi convention / comic con in the same manner as (and I hate to use this word) a normal guest. Not all disabilities are visible and some are very visible – so the amazing team at FEEL THE FORCE DAY put on an event that EVERYONE can feel comfortable at. FTFD events are accessible for wheelchairs and scooters of all shapes and sizes, aisles are wide to allow guests with walking aids to pass, tables are at a height that chairs and shorter guests can access. There are sensory rooms and touch tables for guests with visual or hearing problems, quiet rooms for guests who are anxious, autistic and have other issues with noise and crowds. Guests are encouraged to touch props and costumes – it is a festival of sound and vision, touch and taste – something for all the senses – even if that means very quiet and one on one experience. These events are UNIQUE and only possible through donations from rundraisers like this run and volunteers.

So if you can share, encourage someone to sponsor the team (even if its only £1 every single penny helps), and to raise awareness of this amazing cause – I and the rest of the #teamftfd runners would be SO greatful.

If you happen to be attending the Magic Run Weekend come and say hi 🙂 there are lots of us running and a bunch of guys from Run DV would love to be cheared along.

Thank you for reading this very long post and thank you for your support

Sharon
